Interested in becoming a bricklaying apprentice in Adelaide? There is a strong demand for bricklaying apprentices in South Australia. There are more than 12 employers currently looking to recruit for apprenticeships. They are seeking: applicants under 21 years of age, with a drivers license and a car or motorcycle who are Australian citizens, or hold an eligible visa.
To support these employers FCTA – Building Careers has developed a 6-week intensive short course. The focus will be on developing practical skills that give applicants the best chance of securing an apprenticeship. Training will be commencing on the 9th of February 2021 and will be held at Playford Women’s Shed: Edgecombe Rd, Davoren Park.
This course can provide you with employment opportunities, but there is no employment guarantee, hiring decisions are ultimately made by the employer.
The course will cover the following units:
CPCCWHS1001 | Prepare to work safely in the construction industry | |
CPCCOHS2001A | Apply OHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry | |
CPCCBL3005A | Lay masonry walls and corners | |
UNACCREDITED | Prepare to assist a bricklayer on a work site |
Students will be placed with employers for work experience. On successful completion of the course, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment for the accredited units.
The course will be free for eligible applicants.

Key dates:
- Must register for the information session by the 27th of January 2021
- The information session will be held on the 2nd of February 2021 9:00 am — 3.30 pm at Playford Uniting Church, cnr Curtis Rd & Douglas Dr, Munno Para
- Training will run from the 9th of February to the 5th of March 2021 at the Playford Women’s Shed: Edgecombe Rd, Davoren Park. Tuesday to Friday 8:00am – 3:30pm
- Work experience will be up to 2 weeks, running between the 9th to the 19th of March 2021
